“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
Award-winning author, artist, and educator, MARCUS LYONS lives between the lexicon and punctuation of language and writing. He is passionate about teaching others through formal classes at the high school and college levels, and in workshops both in-person and online, where philosophy, metaphysics, and creative writing are the primary subjects he’s invited to provide. He also offers in-depth, intensive manu/script analysis for individual authors and writers.
He writes novel-length fiction, creative nonfiction (personal essay, technical articles), short fiction, screenplay, and stage plays.
He has written for the big screen, television (aka “the slightly smaller screen”), radio (major market & public radio), stage, and his work has been considered by some of the thoroughbreds in the film industry (James Cameron, Barry Sonnenfeld, Jim Carrey, James Franco, Ryan Reynolds).
Marcus ghostwrites standup comedy for a number of U.S. comics and creates content for several national monthly print and online publications. And while he has a well-developed, if dry, sense of humor, his writing is dark and brooding.
His work has appeared in The Bark, New York Magazine, Over the Edge, Babel, Shock Totem, Straylight, Rooster Magazine, Higher Perspective, Harmony Magazine (a publication of the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine), Ark Magazine, in2itive magazine, in the fiction anthologies Pull the Trigger and Darker Times, and in the non-fiction anthology Aging: An Apprenticeship alongside authors Gloria Steinem, Kate Clinton, Achy Obejas, Judy Blume, Ursula K. Le Guin, Hilary Mantel, Donald Hall, Andrew McCarthy, and others.
Currently, Marcus is the founder and owner of Lyons Agency, a limited liability company that provides intensive, in-depth, professional research for novelists, screenwriters, nonfiction writers, speechwriters, television producers, writers, editors, publicists, marketers, executives, and many more. He is also a script/manuscript story consultant. He works directly with clients to enhance their efforts in their chosen medium.
His clients’ successes have cemented Marcus’s reputation as the “book whisperer” in industry circles.
